First Home Buyers Damien and Cassidy love Warragul
First Home Buyers Damien Adams and Cassidy Thomas purchased lot 6714 in Stage 67 and will settle in March.
“We decided to go to Warragul because we saw a few ads on Facebook and really liked it down that way.
“It’s affordable and we get the ($20,000) first home buyer grant when the house is completed,” he said
Damien and Cassidy have selected Fairhaven Homes to build on their 558 sqm block.
They had looked at Cranbourne but couldn’t justify the price difference.
“We got a 558 sqm block for $208,000 at Waterford Rise and the biggest block in Cranbourne we looked at was $350,000 and only 400 sqm.
“For the price of the Cranbourne land you can get a house and land at Waterford Rise,” Damien said.
The longer lead time to settlement has also allowed the couple to save money while living with their parents in Cranbourne.
“It has allowed us to build the house we wanted in Waterford Rise – not just the house we could afford in Cranbourne,” Damien said.
Like many buyers in the estate, Damien and Cassidy visited a friend who lives in Waterford Rise before they made up their minds.
“We really wanted to move down this way because there’s a lot more for us as it’s close to camping grounds and friends.
“We love the camping and outdoors life and I’m hoping to start skiing at Baw Baw which is only 90 minutes away,” Damien said.
Damien is a mechanic in Dandenong and he will be commuting daily to work.
“We were going to be closer to home but we figured we’re grown up enough to move out there!” he said.
